Few words about dental jewelry

This is a time of dental jewelry (teeth jewelry). Really, it seems evident that a sparkle of a little diamond is able to decorate any, even too beautiful, smile. Normally the process of teeth jewel application is totally painless and does not damage a dental enamel while the provided for the procedure teeth is healthy. It takes about 10-20 minutes and does not require any anesthesia.
At the present day dental diamonds or another stones called Skyces as well are widely used. There are other types of teeth jewel, so-called Twinkles which are represented by golden or silver plates with or without precious stone so as imitation stones like Strass. But using a dental jewelry be prepared that some people can consider it too extravagant.

It is interesting to know that even Maya peoples of IX century had some experience of dental jewelry. They decorated their teeth for ritual or religious purposes. By the way the Mayas had perfect skills for fabrication and placement of carved stone inlays which were made of such natural minerals as turquoise, hematite, quartz, serpentine or iron pyrites. These mineral inlays were placed in precisely prepared cavities in the front teeth enamel. But in spite of this the Mayas did not execute some ordinary for us dental procedures as teeth restoration or correction.

Certainly, the applied dental jewelery of nowadays can not remain in the teeth for thousands of years as implanted stone inlays of Mayas but it can last a relatively long time of about 6-12 months.

  1. Teeth jewelry are beautiful, but they come with a price. The added accessory could harbor bacteria, which would be more difficult to remove when brushing, especially if the jewelry has an irregular shape.
