General Dentistry Prevents Disease & Beautifies Smiles

General dentistry focuses on preventative dentistry and covers a wide range of procedures. This includes the initial consultation and diagnostics such as x-rays, CAT scans and wax moulds for replacement teeth. The dentist uses a variety of methods like tests, x-rays and the like to determine what is wrong with your teeth before treatment. But keep in mind that general dentistry and cosmetic dentistry are not completely separate, as they are being used in many procedures, making your smile at the same time healthy and beautiful.

The fundamental procedures for preventative dentistry are basic: daily dental hygiene (includes dental brushing and flossing) and regular checkups. In fact, it has been proven that we should brush your teeth at least after every meal, flossing should be made even more often, especially in the evening. Taking into account the fact that lots of people have difficulty flossing simply because it’s not expected, general dentists suggest creating a routine. An average person requires regular checkups, which should generally occur every 6 months. But some people experience more sensitive dental situations requiring more frequent checkups.

In case you are interested in following cosmetic dentistry, you should better discuss your options with your dentist, just because many general dentists qualify in cosmetic dentistry as well.
